About Iranian Classical dance
Iranian classical dance is a movement system that borrowed its elements from diverse folkloric dances of Iran, social dancing and other forms of Iranian art; like miniature paintings, calligraphy and poetry. Smooth movements, elegant hand and shoulder gestures and specific facial expressions are the specifications of this dance. This gives a sense of calmness to both dancers and audience.
At Studio Orient we offer Iranian dance class with Hediyeh Azma.
Hediyeh is an Iranian dancer, pedagog and choreographer based in Norway. She received prizes such as best performer and best director among others.
Her major dance field is Iranian (so-called) classical dance, which she has taught for the last 15 years.
Hediyeh established her dance ensemble, named Deir, in 2012 in Iran until she immigrated to Norway in 2016. Currently she is co-founder and member of Tan-Nava ensemble, an Iranian classical dance-music ensemble, in Norway.
Hediyeh Holds an MA in dance-anthropology from a consortium of four European universities (NTNU, SZG, UCL, Roehampton).
