To advance to blue classes we reccommend minimum three Intermediate classes in oriental and two in folklore/charachter style.

Helene Skaugen
Helene

Helene runs Studio Orient and is one of the leading oriental dancers in Norway and internationally. She's one of the five dancers in the professional dance troup, Divas of Bellydance, and is the organizer of Oslo Oriental Dance Festival. Helene has over 30 years experience with dance, 20 years experience as an instructor and more than 15 years experience in oriental dance.
Before opening Studio Orient in january 2005 she sat on the board of the Oriental Dance Association, Al Farah, for six years.
Helene teaches Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Maikki Fonneløp
Maikki is a dancer, choreographer and instructor who has taught at Studio Orient since 2011.
She has previously danced classical ballet and jazz ballet before she started with belly dancing, and she has studied with some of the world's most recognized educators. In Norway Helene Skaugen and Hilde Lund have been her main teachers. Since 2005, she has traveled regularly to Cairo to develop her understanding of culture, Arabic music and the soul of Egyptian dancel.
Maikki was previously chairperson of Al Farah Oriental Dance Association and was a member of the international dance group Euro Divas. She has performed in several Norwegian and international festivals, oranized the 1001 Night Hafla twice a year, and is constantly developing new collaborations in the dance community.
Maikki teaches Mondays and Tuesdays.

Amina Bacali
Amina is half Tunisian and started belly dancing in 2005 with Siw Øksnes and Hilde Lund. She has studied oriental dance and folklore with several Norwegian and international teachers. She arranges restaurant shows with dancing and live music on a regular basis, and is performs regulary at Koskos and Persia restaurant in Oslo.
Amina is a boardmember in Al Farah Oriental Dance Association, as head of events.
This semester Amina is working in Tunisia. She will be teaching whenever she is in Oslo.

Nirmel Kumari Mahe
Nirmel is of Indian descent and from a young age she was performing numerous styles of Indian dances including Bollywood, Punjabi folkdance and Bhangra. She began to study Bellydance in 2002 and has been performing,teaching and choreographing since then. She is also a certified yoga instructor.
One of Nirmel’s greatest achievements is winning the Dancer of the year award in 2007 for her bellydancing, the only bellydance competition in Norway. She teaches the Bollywood class on Thursdays.

Safaa Al-Saadi
Safaa Al-Saadi is a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Iraq, living in Oslo.
He studied for many years at the Music Institute of Baghdad and graduated from the University of Baghdad, playing many different instruments like the tabla (arabic drum), khisbah, kabourine, raqq and the ney (arabic flute). In Iraq he performed extensively with various artists and groups and participated in festivals like the Babylon Festival. After a move to Norway in 2002 Safaa completed a year of studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music, graduating in the summer of 2007.
Since coming to Norway Safaa has collaborated with many artists, and has worked with Helene on several projects, including arabic dance- and music education for Samspill, a performance at the popular TV show Dansefeber in 2006 (So You Think You Can Dance), the production of the educational DVD 'Magedans med Helene' and various performances at Oslo Oriental Dance Festival.
Safaa composed the music for the movie “What can I say”, produced by Magid Gabir. This movie participated on the Filmfestival 2005 in The Hague, The Netherlands. Among his recent work he has composed 'Bridges of Music' (Broer av musikk) for Global Oslo Music.
He is a member of the arabic band Ellayali.
He is guestteaching with Helene on her advanced class! Experience the joy of dancing to live music!

Registration
Påmelding er bindende. Registration is done by signing up for class via e-mail, sms or by phone. For complete registration please enter full name, address, phone and e-mail if you have one. Registration may be done until the day the class starts, but we ask all participants to register no later than two weeks in advance if possible. This will make the classes more predictable, and cancellations less likely.
Note! Registration is binding! Cancellations must be done no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. Cancellation at a later time will result in full charge of the class fee.
The participation fee is to be paid to Studio Orient, account nr. 5010.06.43755
The fee will only be return with a valid doctors statement, or if the course is cancelled, and must otherwise be paid in full.
